What this document is, and what it is not

This is an illustrative sample. It is not a quote, a held booking, or an offer. Every property named here is one I can book through my affiliation with Fora Travel, but availability, rates, room categories and any partner benefits vary by property, date and rate, and are confirmed only at the time of booking. No pricing appears anywhere in this document on purpose. Your real itinerary would be built around your dates, your pace and your budget, and would look different from this one.

The route

How the nights are shaped

Ultra luxury

Silversea, Regent Seven Seas

Small ships, suites as standard, most things already in the fare.

Luxury and upper premium

Explora Journeys, Viking, Oceania

Fewer passengers, longer in port, strong food.

Premium and contemporary

Celebrity, Virgin Voyages, Princess, Royal Caribbean

More on board, more choice, better value per night.

Flights and transfers

You can book your own flights and still have them in here

Plenty of travelers book their own flights, whether for miles, status, or a fare they already found. That does not put your flights outside the itinerary.

I add your flights myself, and the itinerary pulls in live flight information. If a schedule changes after it is built, the itinerary reflects the change without me having to rebuild it. Everyone traveling sees one document with everything in it, whether I booked that piece or you did.

  • You book your own long haul flights if you prefer
  • I add them so they sit alongside the hotels and transfers
  • I book the internal legs, or you can, and either way they appear here
  • Optional. A car from your front door to the departure airport, and one waiting when you land back home

Door to door, if you want it. Most itineraries start at the arrivals hall. This one can start at your driveway. I can arrange a private car from your home to the departure airport, timed to your flight rather than to a guess, and a second car waiting for the return. It is an add on rather than part of the base trip, and I quote it separately so you can take it or leave it.

For hotels, I can send options as a live proposal rather than a flat list. You see current rates, compare the choices side by side, and book the one you want when you are ready. Nothing is held until you decide.

Day by day

The itinerary in detail

Choosing the ship before the itinerary

How I work
  • The first question is not where. It is how many people you want to be at dinner with. Ship size decides more about your week than the ports do.
  • The second is what is included. On some lines the fare is most of the cost. On others the fare is the beginning of it. I will show you the difference in plain numbers before you book.
  • The third is how you feel about sea days. Some itineraries are port heavy and exhausting. Some are half at sea. Neither is better, but the wrong one is a long week.
  • What I do not do. Push you up a tier. If a premium line fits how you actually travel, I will say so.

A sample ocean week, small ship Mediterranean

Roughly ten nights
  • The shape. Two nights on land before embarkation, seven at sea and in port, one night on land after. The land nights are the part most people skip and then regret.
  • Why two nights before. Because a delayed flight the day of embarkation means the ship leaves without you. This is the single most common way a cruise goes wrong, and it is entirely avoidable.
  • What I book. The voyage, the pre and post hotels, the transfers between airport, hotel and pier, and any private touring in port instead of the ship excursions where it is worth it.
  • On board. Dining and any spa or specialty bookings arranged before you sail, because the good slots go in the first hours.
  • Your flights. Book them yourself if you prefer. I add them to the itinerary and they update if the schedule moves.

A sample river week, Europe

Roughly nine nights
  • The shape. Two nights in the embarkation city, seven on the river, and I will tell you which direction sails better for your dates.
  • The line. AmaWaterways for river in Europe. Smaller, and the itinerary is the point rather than the ship.
  • Why river is different. You dock in the middle of towns rather than at an industrial port. Less transit, more walking off the ship into the place itself.
  • Who it suits. Travellers who want to see a lot without packing more than once, and who would rather have dinner with the same forty people all week.
  • Who it does not. Anyone wanting a pool deck, a spa, and three restaurants to choose from. That is an ocean ship.

Current partner offers change through the year and carry their own booking deadlines. Whatever is running when you are ready, I will check it against your dates before you book. Nothing on this page is an offer.
